A Knee Ankle Foot Orthosis (KAFO) is an orthotic appliance that supports the knee, ankle, and foot. In general, a KAFO is any orthotic device that rises to above the knee and stops below the hip. KAFOs are used when weakness or instability at the knee, in addition to the ankle and foot, needs to be controlled.
