The sensory nerve action potential (SNAP) is the electrical response recorded from a sensory nerve when it is stimulated during a nerve conduction study. It reflects how many sensory nerve fibers are working and how well they conduct, which makes it one of the most sensitive measures of peripheral nerve function. In CMT, the SNAP is often reduced or absent, an early sign of the disease’s effect on the sensory nerves.
