An orthotist (or-thuh-tist) is an allied health professional who designs, makes, and fits orthoses, the braces and supports used to align or assist parts of the body. Orthotists assess patients, plan the device, and adjust the fit, working alongside physicians and physical therapists. For many people with CMT, an orthotist is a key member of the care team, most often for fitting an AFO or other lower-limb orthosis.
