The pelvic girdle is the ring of bone in the lower trunk that connects the spine to the legs. Made up of the two hip bones together with the sacrum and coccyx, it carries the weight of the upper body down to the lower limbs and anchors many of the muscles used to stand and walk. In advanced CMT, weakness can climb from the feet toward the hips and the muscles around the pelvic girdle.
