Sensorineural Hearing Loss

aka SNHL

Sensorineural (sen-suh-ree-NOOR-ul) hearing loss is hearing loss caused by damage to the sensory cells or nerve fibers of the inner ear, or to the sensory nerve that carries sound to the brain. It is the most common type of permanent hearing loss. For some people, hearing loss is a part of their CMT, and when it is, this sensorineural type is the form it usually takes.
